Lessons information

Thanks for your interest in Self-Rescue swim lessons! Our survival swimming method is the industry leader in teaching children as young as 6 months old self-rescue techniques. Kids of all ages are given the skills they need to survive in the water and no child is too old to learn to swim with this method! Please read through the additional information below and feel free to contact me with any questions. I can be reached via email & text most quickly. If you would like to schedule a call, please email to do so. My cell number is: 337-263-3635

Scheduling is open through summer 2025.  Additional times will be added as spots fill, but keep in mind that many early morning and evening spots fill quickly. Please note that “off-season” is actually a great opportunity to skill your child in swimming!  This allows them to master skills before pools open and maximize safer pool time in the summer!  Scheduling is available year-round for multiple locations and timeframes!

quick facts

about lessons

Each lesson is one-on-one with the instructor and is customized for your child’s needs and development.  Lessons are attended 4-5 days each week (Monday - Friday) for up to 10 minutes in length. Sessions typically span 25-35 lessons.  The length of the session is dependent on several factors related to how quickly each child masters skills. Children end lessons when fully skilled - in weeks, not years! Only one parent or caregiver needs to be present for lessons and you do not get into the water - chairs are available poolside to watch.

Time slots are booked in ten minute increments and filled on a first-come, first served basis. Families with multiple students should reserve back-to-back time slots. There is no membership required for either Rec-Center location.

Skills learned

Babies 6-14 months will learn to roll over on their backs to float and rest until help arrives.  This life-saving skill is practiced in both summer and winter clothes before lessons are completed.

Children around 14 months and older learn to swim, roll over to float and rest and to continue swimming until they reach the edge or steps.  This Swim-Float-Swim sequence can be used to navigate the pool for safety and fun!  Skills are practiced in both summer and winter clothing before the end of their session.

your investment

Lesson fees are $150 per week, per child and payable to ISR St. Louis each Monday during the session. There is an initial booking fee of $40 (plus processing) per student due at the time of scheduling. This booking fee is non-refundable and $40 may be applied to your child’s LAST week of lessons in their initial session. If lessons are canceled by you prior to or during the session, this fee is forfeited.

A registration fee of $105 is payable online to Infant Swimming Resource and due when registration is completed. We will request you complete this registration about 3-4 weeks before your scheduled start date. This fee covers the medical registration which is reviewed by our team of nurses and allows instructors to provide the safest lessons possible!

Comparable to traditional swim lessons in cost-per-lesson, survival swimming offers an additional layer of water-safety while achieving skills in less time than typical swim lesson alternatives.  Scholarships are available through our affiliate CAST Water Safety Foundation for children of households with limited financial resources as well as discounts for children of teachers, nurses, first responders and military families. schedule lessons

Below you will find the link to the schedule as it is currently available. Pick a time and location that works for you. The scheduler denotes which location and instructor you are reserving.

Keep in mind that many time slots are booked 2-3 months in advance. If you don’t see something that works for your family, feel free to let me know via email.

PLEASE select a time and date that are open. There is no wrong time for starting lessons and later in the season is a great time to skill strong swimmers. Those who take lessons in the “off season” have the opportunity to build skills and confidence throughout the winter/spring!

My best advice is to schedule something at the location and next available time-frame that works for your family. Then add your swimmer(s) to the waitlist in order to potentially be moved into an earlier session if that is your preference.
